I suppose for drill I could create a new profile and new PST file and see if that does make a difference. Otherwise there is nothing from the other system that should be affecting it. Rinse repeat an hour to two later (sometimes even sooner).įor Customer B after numerous tries (checked PST files, removed all add-ons, stopped AV from scanning email, cleared the Windows credentials list, online repair install of O365, offline repair of O365 and probably a few more things here and there) we decided it was time to reload the computer. No matter how many times she enters the password in the dialog box, about an hour or two later the dialog box comes up again, the password is NOT saved. Doing some experimenting I removed Kaspersky from her machine just to test, no difference. Customer A has ESET NOD32 for AV and Customer B has(had) Kaspersky Internet Security 2020.

I think this is a bug that needs get fixed by Microsoft. If you are using Outlook 2013 or 2016, make sure your office suite is up to date.

I don’t know if the issue also occurs in Outlook 2016 or so. These users are using Outlook 2013 with Windows 10. The reason why this happens is because when they get prompted to enter their username and password while using Outlook from home, and click the “Remember my credentials” option the account information gets save in the Credential Manager Vault and it doesn’t get updated when they are forced to change the password, but Outlook still tries to authenticate using the credentials saved in the vault. We have a company policy enforcing people to change their passwords every 180 days, so when they change their account password is when they start having this Outlook issue.
